Chamomile Tea Benefits

I used to wake up early in the morning and have my mug of black steaming coffee to jolt me up in order to start my day. But these days, I'm more relaxed and living a balanced life, I prefer sip my cup of warm fragrant chamomile tea while watching the sun rises.

What are chamomile tea benefits?
Chamomile tea comes from herb Matricaria recutita, also known as manzanilla. The word "chamomile" is derived from the Greek terms for "on the ground" (kamai) and apple (melon). There are two kinds of chamomile: German chamomile (Matricaria recutita) and English (or Roman) chamomile (Chamaemelum nobile). Its flowers and leaves have been brewed for centuries and drank as a fragrant and flavorful tea.

Both the fresh and dried flowers of chamomile have been used to create teas for centuries to cure various health problems. Now, researchers have found new evidence that the chamomile tea may actually help relieve a wide range of health ailments, including colds, insomnia, calming nerves, skin irritation and menstrual cramps. The active ingredient in chamomile essential oil is known as bisabolol, which has a number of anti-irritant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties.

Well, I find the refreshing chamomile tea benefits are indeed true. It helps to calm my nerves, keeps my once irritating cold away and I definitely sleep better.

Uplifting Quotes About Life To Start Your Day

Wake up to uplifting quotes about life or uplifting sayings with Shirelee.

Like every one else, I don't wake up every morning all pumped up and raring to face another new day with gusto. Some mornings I do wake up from the wrong side of the bed, so to speak. Feeling lousy. Instead of rolling back into my warm blanket, I crawl out of bed, do some simple stretching exercise and then I head into my bathroom and do my wash-up. Next I make myself a cup of hot refreshing chamomile tea.

Good Health Tips: How To Spice Up Healthy Food

Here is a quick good health tips:

I know most of the healthy food is usually bland, without sodium, fat and sugar. Eating salad without dressing is torturous for many of us. What I normally do to add flavor to my so-called tasteless healthy food with garlic, ginger, onions, pepper, chili, curry powder, olive oil, oregano, basil or a dash of lemon juice.

Herb and spice and everything nice.
Back in the ancient civilizations, they had already discovered that by adding certain plants to their food, not only would it taste better, but they actually were able to extend its "shelf life" by preventing bacterial growth. People then suspected that herbs and spices had certain properties that made them beneficial for health, and scientists today have proven that they were right.

According to good health tips, herbs and spices add flavor without adding calories, and also beneficial to our health. They have antimicrobial properties, act as antioxidants, and may even help prevent or decrease the spread of cancer.

Heard Of Fast Healthy Food?

Today I'm going to share with you on healthy food options. I am no health freak, but I believe in eating in moderation and I do indulge in fast food once a while. But what I do is I would make better and healthier choices in my selection of fast food. Or what I call fast healthy food.

Tips for healthy eating at fast food restaurants:
I always make sure to check out the descriptions on the menu. A big no-no for me are dishes which read deep-fried, pan-fried, basted, batter-dipped, breaded, creamy, crispy, scalloped, Alfredo, au gratin or in cream sauce. They are usually high in calories, unhealthy fats or sodium. I go for items with more vegetables and choose leaner meats.

When it come to drink, I almost never go for soda. It is a huge source of hidden calories. Do you know a 32-oz Big Gulp with regular cola pack about 425 calories? I normally do is I add a little lemon to flavor my plain water or I simply order an unsweetened iced tea.

Another one of the many good health tips is beware of salad dressings, spreads, cheese, sour cream, etc. They appear innocent, but actually they are loaded with calories. One of my favorite healthy food options is I ask for a grilled chicken sandwich without the mayonnaise. Probably I may squeeze a bit of ketchup or mustard on it.

Always ask for your vegetables and main dishes to be served without the sauces. If you want, then go for olive oil and vinegar for your salads. But if you go for it, then be smart, order the dressing "on the side" and spoon only a small amount on at a time.

Another one of the healthy food options is go for smaller portion size. At a typical fast food restaurant, a single serving provides enough for two meals. What I do is bring half home or divide the portion with a dining partner. Another trick is order from th kid's menu.

Basically I am very conscious at what I eat. I bite and chew my food thoroughly and avoid eating on the run. Being conscious also means knowing when to stop eating before I'm full. Conscious eating get you digest better, and makes you feel more satisfied.

Whatever your healthy food options, go for moderation. Know what you put into your mouth and enjoy your dining out experience, while maintaining good nutrition and diet control.
I know many fast food chains do have nutritional information on their websites. But the lists are often confusing and difficult to use. What I suggest is you go to other more useful sites like HealthyDiningFinder.com or Stop&Go Fast Food Nutrition Guide .

Or get this 400-page guide "EAT THIS, NOT THAT: THE BEST (AND WORST) FOODS IN AMERICA" written by Men's Health editor-in-chief David Zinczenko and Matt Goulding.

Running Barefoot Is Good For Your Sole

I like to share with you some interesting and health tips on running. Ever since I'm into healthy living, I have been running daily. Running alone gives time and space for myself away from my boisterous kids and my chore for awhile. It is definitely a great way to avoid stress.

Recently I tried running barefoot because I read that running barefoot is a better way to avoid those painful repetitive stress injuries to your heels. It says to be a more ‘natural’ way to run, will reduce the chances of injury, and may well make you faster. It is still inconclusive, but according to this good health tip, even well-cushioned sports shoes that help distribute weight across the foot cannot fully absorb the shock of those heavy pounding.

I know most of us definitely think that barefoot running is dangerous and hurts, but interestingly, the study found that actually you can run barefoot on the world’s hardest surfaces without the slightest discomfort and pain.

The researchers said that when we run barefoot, we have different strike, so our heels do not hit the ground, but rather landing instead on the sides or balls of their feet. According to bio-mechanics studies by a professor of bio-mechanics at the University of Calgary and a well-respected footwear researcher, barefoot runners tend to strike the ground further up on the foot. In shoes, most people are heel strikers; the back of their foot contacts the ground first. Whereas barefoot runners strike the ground closer to the front of the foot, near the toes, and are in contact with the ground for less time.

Personally I have always love running barefoot on sandy beaches or green fields. I love the feel of my bare soles touching the ground. Anyway, I would be running more tips to share with you.

Be Happy And You'll Be Healthy

Do you know that health and happiness are co-related. According to US researchers of Columbia University Medical Center, people who are usually happy and enthusiastic are less likely to develop heart disease than those who tend to be glum?

They said happiness can help reduce heart health risks. And I remember reading a study published in the journal Psychosomatic Medicine back in 2006, it says that people who report positive emotions are less likely to catch colds and also less likely to report symptoms when they do get sick. This is said to be true regardless of their levels of optimism, extraversion, purpose and self-esteem, and of their age, race, gender, education, body mass or pre-study immunity to the virus.

One possible reason for the link between happiness and heart risk could be that people who are happier tend to have longer periods of rest or relaxation, and may recover more quickly from stressful events and not spend as much time "re-living" them.

Do You Know What Is The Red Wine Diet?

Have you heard of The Red Wine Diet? I know the term sounds kind of weird. combination Alcoholic drink and diet. Back in 2006, there was a study saying that red wine has a high level of substance called resveratrol, which could help to cut down your weight, boost your endurance and reduce the risk of diabetes.

Then in 2008, according to UK researcher Roger Corder, author of "The Red Wine Diet", in red wine, there is a group of flavonoid polyphenols (organic chemicals responsible for deep color and complex flavor in red wine) called procyanidins. These are typically found in wines that have had a significant fermentation time and wines that have been allowed to settle, rather than go through a filtering process. These chemicals is said to prevent clogged arteries, reduce high blood pressure and cholesterol.

But then, Corder warns that you should not pick up The Red Wine diet if you're looking for an overnight weight fix. The Red Wine Diet offers a gradual and holistic approach to living a longer, healthier life - where weight loss is one of the many benefits over time. So, toss to red wine.

How To Live Life To The Fullest

Hello and welcome to "Health Yourself To Happiness".

Well, my name is Shirley Day and I am no medical doctor, therapist or some motivational guru

I am just an ordinary woman and a mother who has learned how to live life to the fullest . And I want to share with you my good health tips and how to achieve true happiness

And hopefully to bring joy, passion, and gusto back into your life.
health and happiness blogHealth And Happiness Blog To Be Shared

Having gone through life's trials and tribulations, now I see life from a very different perspective as compared to my turbulent days.

I have witnessed birth of my own offspring and I have moaned death of my loved ones. I have encountered failed business, bad relationships, critical health problem and a tempestuous marriage.

All those past experiences have enriched, enlightened and empowered me.

One thing is it is because of my love for reading which actually show me back to living a good life again. Those great self-improvement books are my source of knowledge and guidance.

Having all the information and knowledge is not enough. You yourself have to take action. Results come from action.

The other guiding angel is those wonderful inspiring quotes about health and happiness. I have collected a good selection of these powerful words of wisdom which I would share with you.

Now I'm living the best time of my life, because I decided to bounce back to live a balanced life; of good health, happiness and full of laughter.

Now, I live a life on learning, loving, and laughing.

I seize life and squeeze every drop of juice out of every precious moment which I’m having now. As they say, "Living well is the best revenge", I want to add more wonderful years to my life.

Life is too short, so I don't take myself too seriously, and to try to shift my focus away from the self-pithy and self-destructive, and instead towards the truly important things in life.

Other than living a charmed life of resilience, living in the moment, optimism, humor, moderation, responsibility, meaning and connection, the two key aspects which centered my life are health and happiness.

Studies have shown that that happiness and other positive emotions play an even more important role in health.

Do you know that when happy people contract a virus, or “catch a cold”, they report fewer symptoms and in fact, are less likely to contract the virus at all?

According to finding by Carnegie Mellon University Psychology Professor, Sheldon Cohen found people who are happy, lively, calm or show other positive emotions are less likely to become ill when they are exposed to a cold virus than those who report few of these emotions.

I always keep hearing or reading about people looking for happiness.

But the truth is happiness is a state of mind, therefore the real source of happiness lies in the mind. Happiness is a choice. In other words, you yourself decide whether you want happiness or not.

authentic happiness by martin e p seligman
According to renowned psychologist-author Martin E P Seligman in his book "Authentic Happiness" is basically by identifying the very best in ourselves, so we can improve the world around us and achieve new and sustainable levels of authentic contentment, gratification, and meaning.

Following closely to happiness is laughter. Laughter is definitely a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict.

The best medicine, so to speak. The very sound of laughter can bring your mind and body back into balance. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy.

Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy level, reduce pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress.

In this wellness and well-being blog, I would like to share with you my own personal experiences on health and happiness, to inspire, to revitalize, and renew your passion for living a more meaningful and juicy life.

Yes, go on, live life to the fullest
