Never Drink A Pitcher Of Tea A Day Or You May Have Rare Bone Disease Someday

We have read about the benefits of drinking green tea. Now I read a news report that a 47-year-old Detroit woman who developed a very rare bone disease after she has been drinking a pitcher of tea daily for the past 17 years.

This tea-drinking lady was having pain in her lower back, arms, legs and hips for five years. Her X-rays showed she has a very dense bone on the spinal vertebrae and calcifications of ligaments in her arm.

The researchers suspected the patient has skeletal fluorosis. It is a bone disease caused by taking in too much fluoride. Floride is a mineral can be found in tea and drinking water.

According to the researchers, her blood levels of fluoride were four times higher than what would be considered normal.

My personal view is moderation. No matter what you have read or heard from the health journals, it is wise to take things in moderation. Do not follow blindly to all these latest medical findings or research. [source]

Drinking Greek Coffee Can Make You Live Longer

Remember the Greek island Ikaria aka “The Place Where People Forget to Die”? It was said that one percent of Ikaria’s inhabitants live right up to their 90s.

There are a couple of reasons why the folks there live longer and stay sharper and healthier. Besides the lack of pollution in this island, the Ikarians consume lots of fruits and vegetables, and drink wine in moderation.

One startling discovery by Dr. Gerasimos Siasos of the University of Athens, is coffee drinking. Yes, we have read that coffee and tea have health benefits as compared to other beverages.

But not any coffee. They have been consuming an unique boiled Greek type of coffee. It is said to have a moderate amount of caffeine, but rich in polyphenols and antioxidants. [source]

Drinking Coffee And Green Tea Every Day Could Save Your Life

Good news for me and many others, I'm sure. There is a new study from The Land of The Rising Sun or Japan, says that those who drink both green tea and coffee every day have a lower risk of stroke than those who drink just one or the other (or neither).

According to this latest study published in the American Heart Association's journal called Stroke, people who had a cup of coffee every day were 20 percent less likely to have a stroke as compared to those who didn't drink coffee at all.

I am sure many of us have heard about the benefits (antioxidant properties) of drinking green tea. This time says that folks who drank four or more cups of green tea a day, were also about 20 percent less likely to have a stroke.

As coffee and green tea help prevent strokes in different ways, so it is advisable to drink both drinks to lower your risk of stroke.

It was explained that regular consumption of both green tea and coffee it keeps blood clots from forming. As we know a stroke occurs when a blood clot blocks an artery in the brain or when a blood vessel breaks, thus causing an interruption of blood flow to the brain.

Green tea contains compounds known as catechins, which can help regulate blood pressure and improve blood flow. As for coffee, it contains quinides, compounds that can help control blood sugar; which cuts your risk of stroke by reducing your risk of Type 2 diabetes. [source]
